Maintenance of kitchen and household utensils

Cleaning and maintenance

  • Regularly grease the cookware range with vegetable fat or oil.
  • Make sure the dishes are always thoroughly dry before use.
  • Maintain the excellent properties of cast iron by never using dishwashing detergent or similar. This removes the “taste” that is unique to cast iron and is best retained.
  • More nuances (patina) in the product are only an advantage – these are the flavours, oils and spices from previous use.
  • Always rinse only with hot water and a soft brush. Never leave cast iron in water for long periods of time. For tougher stains, you can use a bit of force and a washing sponge – but most stains can be removed with a normal dishwashing brush.
  • NEVER push the product over the hob – it’s better to lift it up.

ALYVOS APDORA
Oiled wooden products should be treated with vegetable cooking oil before first use; repeat the process monthly to ensure longevity. Always use a food-grade oil such as cold-pressed rapeseed or sunflower oil. Apply a generous layer of oil and leave on for 10-15 minutes. Then wipe the product thoroughly with a dry cloth and let it rest for 10-12 hours before use.

Over time, the oil finish wears off and the wood fibres can become exposed. If the surface is very rough, we recommend a light sanding with sandpaper (max. 220 grit) in the direction of the grain. Do not forget to dust thoroughly. After sanding, reapply oil.

RUNNING AND CLEANING TIPS
Wash the wooden product immediately after use.
Do not allow a dirty wooden product to stand for a long time without washing. Thoroughly wash the product with mild soap and wipe with a tea towel. Leave to air dry. Moisture cannot evaporate if the product is placed too quickly in a drawer, etc.

NEVER wash wooden products in the dishwasher.
High temperatures and humidity in the dishwasher damage wooden products. If you put a wooden product in the dishwasher, it may crack.

With regular maintenance, wooden products become more beautiful and more patinated over time.

About Morsø Wood Products
Morsø Wood Products are made from oak, which has a very high natural tannin content and bactericidal properties. The effect of tannins in oak is well known and has been used in the wine industry for many years. Wine is stored in oak barrels for centuries to increase the tannin content, which significantly extends the shelf life of the wine due to its lower bacterial content.

Congratulations on your new Morsø wooden product!
